SaaS in Europe is still far behind compared to the U.S. with about 20% adoption rate. This is not only valid for users, the camp of Europen SaaS start-ups was also rather small. This is changing as was visible on the Web Summit 2015.

The interview with Michele Barbera from Spaziodati is the second in a series of portraits of European SaaS startups to show their solutions, potential and problems.

Thus it was a pleasure to talk to Michele, Co-Founder of Spaziodati, an Italian SaaS startup based in Trento.

The startup raised 3Mio funding, has a growing team of experts in semantic analytics and a growing customer base. With banks as first user case you could also call it a Fintech SaaS. In the interview we take a look at the steps in development of the start-up and why a pivot away from a developer API SaaS solution helped. We also discuss about problems with SaaS sales and talent in Europe. Are the problems of Italian start-ups and SaaS companies different?

It was a great interview and shows how vivid SaaS solutions are today.
Have fun watching the video which was shot live during the Web Summit 2015 in Dublin.
